That’s the theme for the 2010 Scandinavian Heritage Festival,
Thursday through Saturday, May 27-29th (Memorial Weekend) in Ephraim,
Utah.
And it expresses the warmth you’ll feel as you visit with us.
You see, many of us are descendants of the plucky Scandinavians who
crossed ocean and plain to settle our gorgeous valley. That proud past
is part of our everyday lives. And we delight in sharing it with visitors.
We’re not alone. About 650,000 Utahns trace their ancestry to
Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Iceland. Like us, Many are descended from
19th Century Scandinavian converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter-day Saints (Mormons).
The festival begins Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Noyes Building at Snow
College with the Scandinavian Heritage Conference, a free educational
event. The conference continues Friday morning.
The Little Scandinavian Dinner, a gourmet Scandinavian smorgasbord,
will be served Friday at 6 p.m. at the Greenwood Student Center at Snow
College. The cost is $12 for adults and $8 for children 8 years and
younger. No reservations are required.
From Friday noon through Saturday at dusk, the festival grounds on the
north side of the Snow College campus and at Pioneer Park, 50 N 100
W, will buzz with costumes, dancing, storytelling, entertainment, historical
tours, craft and food booths and more.
To learn more, click through this site or call the festival information
line, (435) 835-4241, which is answered by knowledgeable staff from
our local newspaper.
And when you arrive in Ephraim, come to the information booth at 150
E 100 N to get answers to your questions and pick up a printed guide
to the festival.
